Smartzer and BookaLook winners of 080 Investor Day 2016



This morning took place during the 18th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion, the second edition of 080 Investor Day, International Investment Forum of the Fashion Industry organized by Seed & Click and in collaboration with the 080 Barcelona Fashion.

Smartzer has been valued by the jury as the best fashion startup 2016 among the 5 finalists selected.

Smartzer started with a vision that in the future all videos will become interactive and clickable. Majority of current video players incorporate pre-rolls or popup ads for monetisation purposes, yielding low results. Video is the future of content marketing and the Smartzer technology is at the forefront of enabling corporations monetise their investment in video.

BookaLook, startup founded in London by Melissa Fernandez and Carolina Molossi has received from Myriam Serrano, Woman Madame Figaro magazine; the Social Media Award. BookaLook got more than 90% of votes in a contest on the Seed & Click Facebook page where fans had to vote for their favorite fashion startup within the 5 finalists the weeks before the final. Bookalook is a two sided platform, a SaaS with a network effect. Brands & PR Agencies: -Manage their sample stocks and activities accross the world -Place their samples in the press (magazines, celebrities, influencers etc) -Understand their PR strategy worldwide (analytics) Stylists & Journalists (press): -Request samples with a quick and fun experience (similar to e-commerce) -Effectively search by moods (hashtags)

The forum began with a round table about “What’s next & beyond for the fashion industry” composed by Olivier Marcheteau, General Director of Vestiaire Collective; Isabel Mesa, Country Manager of WGSN; Nic Olivé, ex Mango and now founder and CEO of Please; Eva Abans, Partner of Ernst & Young as moderator of the table where they analyzed that the coming challenges of the industry will be led by emerging companies and startups at the forefront of trends in the sector and whose management teams are mainly millennials.

Before the awards ceremony, Laura Muries (Pai Partners) presented the attractiveness of the fashion industry for national and foreign investment.

On the other hand, it is important to note that the winning project of the 1st edition, Made in Me, headed by Oscar Vega, just closed a round of funding of half a million euros and prepares another in the coming months to get 200,000 euros in order to jump to the US market.

The event was closed by Montserrat Vilalta Cambra, Director General of Commerce, Departament d’Empresa i Coneixement of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
