Yumehub and Uttopy selected as winners of 080 Investor Day 2017


The third edition of 080 Investor Day, the international investment forum of the fashion industry, took place on 28th June 2017 at Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau within the 20th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion.

The event, organized by Seed&Click in collaboration with 080 Barcelona Fasion, brought together different fashion experts and startups with the goal of boosting their innovative ventures. As a novelty, this year there was also room for fashion emerging brands born in Catalonia, with the aim of giving them visibility, promotion and the chance to connect with potential investors. Out of more than 50 applicants, 60.5% were from Spain, 15.7% from USA and 5.2% from UK, among others.

Some of the participants were Corey Moran (Google) and Matthew Drinkwater (LCF) who, apart from doing as jury members, they delivered a conference on the future of luxury and the impact that fashion tech will have on our way to understand and experience the sector, respectively.

The panel of 10 projects that made it to the final was composed by 5 startups: Binfluencer, Buytrendy, Imersivo, Yumehub and Woodys, as well as 5 emerging brands: Colmillo de Morsa, Fishikii, Madmoiçon, Makelovelovemake and Uttopy. All of them, had the chance to present their businesses in elevator pitch format in front of a first-class international jury composed by Luiz F. Costa (LDJ capital), Jan Brinckmann (ESADE), Corey Moran (Google), Matthew Drinkwater (LFC), Ana Brossa (McCann Worldgroup), Javier Blázquez (Baker McKenzie), Manuel Moreno (Grupo Zeta), Karina Riera ( 4YFN ) and Luis Lara ( KPMG ).

The criteria taken into account when selecting the winning fashion startup and emerging brand, included their capacity of innovation, viability, social impact, experience and attitude of their teams, as well as their communication capacity.

After deliberating, the jury chose Yumehub as the winning fashion startup and Uttopy as the winning emerging fashion brand.

Both winners of this 3rd edition of 080 Investor Day, will receive a prize valued at 100.000€, composed by services and benefits from leading brands such as McCann Worldgroup, Baker McKenzie, Grupo Zeta, Esade Creápolis, KPMG impulsa and 4YFN, partners on this initiative that seeks to empower the next leaders of the fashion industry.

On the other side, Buytrendy and Uttopy, a fashion startup and an emerging fashion brand, respectively, were selected as winners on social media, milestone for which both of them were given a trophy.
